In an effort to include Board members and friends in the lives and achievements of the Boys Hope Girls Hope kids, I will now be sending out a bi-monthly newsletter celebrating the kid's achievements! This month we recognize Anthony, Brandon, and Khalia for their outstanding classroom achievements. I interviewed Anthony, Brandon, and Khalia at the View Place House.

Anthony

Anthony is a senior at Roger Bacon and will be attending Xavier University (my alma mater) next year. He plans to study in the school of Business, possibly Accounting, Sales, or Advertising. Anthony's current GPA is 3.40! Way to go Anthony!! He attributes his good grades to good time management and great study habits. Anthony is also an extremely talented pianist; when I first stepped foot into View Place I was blown away by his music! I sat down with Anthony to ask a few questions...

• What is your favorite class? Physics
• What is your favorite food? Cheeseburgers
• What is your favorite book? Brave New World
• What is your favorite movie? Darkness Falls (a horror film)
• If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I would go to Australia because I have always wanted to go there. It sounds cool and I would love to see some kangaroos!
• If you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be? I would like to meet Beethoven. Although he was deaf, I would love to be able to sit in the same room with him and attempt to converse.

Brandon

Brandon is in 7th grade at St. Vivian. His basketball team just finished up their season, Brandon played point guard. Not only does he excel on the court, more importantly, Brandon excels in the classroom. He currently has a 3.34 GPA and attributes his good grades to his hard work. I sat down with Brandon and asked him the same set of questions...

• What is your favorite class? Science class, right now we are studying Oceanography and I love it.
• What is your favorite food? Fried Chicken!
• What is your favorite book? Speak
• What is your favorite movie? Rush Hour
• If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Jamaica, so I can swim with the dolphins, stingrays, and even sharks!
• If you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be? Michael Jordan, even though I have already met him and got his autograph, I would like to hang out with him for a day and play basketball.

Khalia

Khalia is a 6th grader at St. Ursula Villa and loves to play soccer. She plays for her school and for a team coached by her Dad. Her favorite position is defender, but she would play anywhere on the field if her team needed her to. Khalia has the highest GPA of all the kids with a 3.51 and attributes her good grades to finishing all of her homework every night. I sat down with Khalia and asked her the same set of questions...

• What is your favorite class? Language Arts/Reading class
• What is your favorite food? Fried Chicken!
• What is your favorite movie? Dream Girls
• What is your favorite book? The Clique Series
• If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Rome, because we are studying it in school and it has so much history to it. From the pictures I have seen, it looks beautiful!
• If you could meet anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be? Beyonce because she is so talented and a good role model!
